# BGP Desk > Diagnostics-only BGP troubleshooting for one router. Paste its show bgp summary, show bgp neighbors and router bgp > configuration (prompts, command echoes, route-maps, prefix-lists and BGP log lines included); the browser masks every > password, key and community first, then parses the summary of every address family and VRF for Cisco IOS / IOS-XE, > NX-OS, IOS-XR and Arista EOS, the neighbor detail blocks and the configuration, flat or hierarchical, with peer-groups, > templates and neighbor-groups resolved. It applies the skill's state table to every peer - Active, Connect, > OpenSent/OpenConfirm, Idle and Established with zero prefixes, each with its first checks - and flags only what the paste > proves: a down peer's last reset reason, eBGP sourced from a loopback with no multihop, a route-map, prefix-list or > AS-path list referenced but not defined (with the closest defined name), a neighbor activated in no address family, > max-prefix nearly reached (the percentage computed), a flapping session, and AS-path regex without token boundaries > (_64504_ against 64504). Metered runs write the read-only diagnosis and a change-window plan. Built on the SkillSafe > skill @affaan-m/network-bgp-diagnostics, from affaan-m/everything-claude-code (MIT), by Affaan Mustafa. https://bgp-desk.skillsafe.ai/ ## What is free - The parse: every peer with its VRF, remote AS, eBGP or iBGP, state, prefixes per address family, up/down time (also in seconds), last reset reason and its class (hold timer, authentication, OPEN refused, max-prefix, peer closed, administrative), update source and policies. - The findings: an id (F1, F2, ...), a severity (critical - a session down or no routes, major - a broken reference, a limit or a flap, minor - hygiene), the peer, the evidence with the pasted lines, the skill's first check, and the page's value where it can compute one (a closest defined name, a new max-prefix limit, a token-bounded regex). - The skill's read-only checklist per peer - identify, state and last reset, reachability, policy references, advertised and received routes, AS path, logs - with the exact commands for this platform, peer, VRF and source. Peers and findings CSVs and everything as JSON. ## The metered lanes Two tasks on gpt-terra, metered per run, routed by `task`. Input string fields: `task` (diagnose or change), `router`, `evidence` (masked), `symptom` (or a sentence saying none), `carry` (change: the diagnosis's decisions) and `facts` (the page's parse). - `diagnose` replies with `summary`, `findings` (confirmed ids with the peer, the cause, the evidence and the first check), `cleared`, `causes` (the most likely cause for every peer that is down or empty, with a confidence), `unseen` (what the paste cannot show), `next` (read-only commands in order) and `caveats`. - `change` replies with `summary`, `steps` (ordered configuration per finding), `reset` (only the soft or route-refresh form for one peer), `rollback`, `verify` (read-only commands), `kept` and `caveats`. The page holds every reply to its parse: each id accounted for exactly once, one cause per down or empty peer matched by peer and VRF, next and verify commands read-only, no hard or wildcard reset, no secret written, no ACL relaxed - and the plan's configuration appended to the paste and parsed again: a fix that does not land, or a broken reference the plan adds, is flagged. ## Limits - A change plan is a draft from the pasted evidence, not an operational guarantee: review it, apply it in a maintenance window with a rollback ready, and stage it (IOS-XR commit confirmed, EOS session commit timer, NX-OS checkpoint, IOS revert timer). The page re-parses statically; it runs nothing on a router. - Independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by Cisco Systems or Arista Networks. ## Links - API tutorial: https://bgp-desk.skillsafe.ai/api.html - Source skill: https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@affaan-m/network-bgp-diagnostics
